Recently, the French Ministry of ecological transformation reported that about 484mw of new photovoltaic systems were connected to the grid from January to March, compared with 736mw in the same period last year. By the end of March, the cumulative PV installed capacity in France had reached 14.6gw, including 13.8gw in mainland France.
Since the beginning of the year, the total capacity of the solar projects that have applied for grid connection and queued up has increased by 16% to 13.4 GW, of which 2.9gw have signed the grid connection agreement. The solar energy capacity in the first quarter of this year was 3.2twh, compared with 2.4twh in the same period in 2021. Solar power generation accounted for 2.2% of France's electricity consumption, down from 3.7% in the same period last year.
It is understood that the new Aquitaine, Auvergne Rhone Alps and Provence Alps blue coast regions accounted for 65% of the newly added grid connected electricity in the first quarter. The installed capacity of these regions was the largest, accounting for 66% of the total cumulative grid connected electricity in France by the end of March.
