Romania's environment ministry has published some revisions to the Casa Verde Fotovoltaice (Green Photovoltaic Home) program in its official journal to support residential solar installations under the national net metering system launched in June.

Romania's National Environmental Fund (AFM) allocated a total of 252 million shillings ($59 million) for tax rebates in 2020. The total budget of the plan is 536 million shillings. The Romanian government first launched the rebate program in August 2018.

AFM provides rebates for installations larger than 3kW, covering up to 90% of equipment costs as long as the grant does not exceed 20,000.

According to the latest statistics from the International Renewable Energy Agency, Romania installed 1.38GW of solar energy by the end of 2019. The vast majority of this capacity is based on MW-scale solar power plants built under the Green Certificate Program launched in 2011. New installations in the country have increased by almost zero since the scheme was shut down. From 2015 to 2019, only 14MW of new solar projects have been added.
