To ease the pressure on the power grid, Vietnam is trying to "cool down" the installation of rooftop PV. It plans to cut the subsidy for the grid price that can be obtained by rooftop PV projects from April, with a reduced rate of 30.8% to 37.9%, a local media reported.
Vietnam's Grand Unity Daily quoted Hong Tien dung, director of the Electricity and Renewable Energy Bureau of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, as saying that the Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to reduce the on-grid price of rooftop solar electricity to 5.2-5.8 cents / kWh.
The media pointed out that the Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade cut the subsidy of the roof solar price "is as expected". As early as January this year, Vietnam's national power dispatching center proposed that Vietnam would cut 500 GWh of photovoltaic power generation this year due to the excessive growth of rooftop photovoltaic installed capacity last year.
Nguyen said that the Vietnamese government has suggested that some small hydropower projects adjust their power generation time and suspend power generation during the peak sunshine period from 11 to 13 o'clock every day, to make more space for photovoltaic projects. Besides, the photovoltaic power generation market will be planned according to clear standards to limit disorderly development.
