Portuguese energy group Galp Energia SGPS SA has announced that it has selected a construction contractor for its 144 MW solar project in the country and will soon begin construction. A consortium of energy solutions providers Jayme da Costa and Visabeira signed the contract to build four solar farms in Alcoutim as part of a single project.

Galp says it currently has 900MW of solar capacity. The company also said it was committed to spending 40% of its annual investment on projects transitioning to a low-carbon energy model and 10% - 15% on renewable energy and new businesses.
