Chinese National Energy Administration: 120GW Renewable Energy Domestic Installation Target for 2021

Release date:2020-12-24 Source:Raytech Pageviews:-

On December 22, the 2020 annual meeting of China Energy Policy Research and the fourth quarter meeting of "China Power Roundtable" were held in Beijing. A representative said at the meeting that the National Energy Administration has put forward the goal of "adding 120GW of wind power and solar power in China by 2021". The news has also been confirmed by relevant staff from the NEA. This marks that China's new energy industry's annual new installed capacity planning will exceed 100GW for the first time.

According to the statistics of NEA, from 2014 to 2019, the total new scale of wind power and solar power generation in China are 33GW, 48GW, 54GW, 68GW, 65GW and 56GW respectively, and in 2020, 46GW has been installed from January to October 2020. Although the annual newly added capacity is up to 68GW, it is still lower than the target average growth rate of 74GW in the next 10 years, and it is also significantly lower than the 2021 development target of 120GW.
