South Korea Plans to Conduct 4GW Solar Projects Bidding in Two In 2021

Release date:2021-01-13 Source:Raytech Pageviews:-

South Korea is likely to hold two solar projects tenders in April and October 2021, and plans to allocate about 4GW of solar power generation capacity. Yeji Kim, a researcher at the Seoul-based Climate Solutions Research Institute, said, “We expect the bidding capacity for the first half of the year will be 2GW, and the remaining 2GW will be completed in the second half. According to our consultation with the Korea Energy Agency (KEA) The capacity of the latest planned bidding is expected to be 300 to 500 MW higher than the 1.4 GW allocated in the previous session."

Through bidding, the Korea Energy Agency will sign fixed electricity price contracts based on different types and sizes of solar projects. Yeji Kim said, “As the bidding for power generation capacity of 20 MW and larger will be launched for the first time this year, the Korean government may be based on the bidding this year. Based on the results, consider the multi-year solar bidding plan.” He pointed out that Korea currently has no discussions on the multi-year plan. In addition, there are no requirements for the degree of localization in the bidding, but starting this year, projects using low-carbon footprint solar modules will be given priority.
