Singapore's ongoing or awarded solar energy bidding is enough to build about 280 MW solar energy capacity, covering 5500 household roofs. On about half of the roofs, solar panels have been installed, and the rest will be gradually installed in batches in the next two or three years.

The solar energy generated by 280 MW of solar panels can supply electricity to the equivalent of 70,300 four-room living units, which is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 168,000 metric tons per year and mitigate the impact of climate change.

Singapore's government announced last year that it would increase the installed capacity of solar panels in housing estates to 540MW by the end of 2030. This means 648 GWh of clean energy can be produced annually, 145% higher than the 2020 target.

This year, the government will continue to conduct more bidding activities to install solar panels on the roofs of group houses, and will use more efficient solar panels to make full use of roof space.
