According to recent data from the European Union statistics bureau, in 2020, the EU's renewable energy power generation exceeded the fossil fuel power generation for the first time, and was basically not affected by the negative effects of COVID-19 and prevention and control measures.

Preliminary data quoted by Eurostat show that due to appropriate prevention and control measures and lower energy demand, fossil fuel power generation fell to about 1023 TWH last year, down 9.8% from 2019, the lowest since 1990.

On the other hand, renewable energy is booming in the same period. In 2020, renewable energy power generation will reach 1053 TWH, higher than 979.9 TWH last year, and far more than 303.3 TWH in 1990.
