Engie Plans to Develop a 1.5GW Wind Solar Hybrid Project in Chile

Release date:2021-07-05 Source:Raytech Pageviews:-

Engie Chile has been granted the right to develop two hybrid projects in Chile that combine solar, wind and battery energy storage with a total capacity of 1.5GW.

These projects will be built in the northern part of Antofagasta. Engie Chile obtained the concession of these projects through the public bidding of the Ministry of national assets of Chile.

Engie plans to develop 2GW renewable energy in Chile in 2025. The acquisition of these two projects means that engie's efforts have been greatly promoted. Engie's previous goal was 1GW, which was raised earlier this year.

Chile promised to phase out coal and set a clean energy mission target of 60% by 2035. This puts Chile at the top of the latest climatescope of 2020 (the annual market ranking of energy transformation in developing countries) by the Research Institute of BNEF.
