On March 13, solar power generation in northeastern Brazil set a new peak of 1,561MW, which was the first time in the region.

At 13:26 local time, the power generation of solar plants met 14.4% of the demand in the region. According to ONS data, the previous record was 1,544MW registered on April 3, 2020. When it comes to the average solar power generation throughout the day, the previous record was on March 4, with an average of 541MW. This is enough to meet 4.7% of the demand in the Northeast. 

In general, the National Bureau of Statistics estimates that by the end of 2021, Brazil’s solar power plants will account for 2.3% of the country’s total electricity.
