The Korea-based Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is supporting Maharashtra Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) in the development of a 250 MW solar plant along the 700 km highway linking Mumbai and Nagpur. The project will provide renewable energy for future demand for electric vehicles.

GGGI is a treaty-based intergovernmental organization designed to promote sustainable economic growth in developing countries. In 2018, a partnership with MSRDC will support highway projects in India. GGGI provided technical assistance, investment due diligence and debt structure for the project.

"This is India's first renewable energy plan combined with a major road infrastructure project. GGGI plays an important role in laying the foundation and paving the way for a green electric transportation infrastructure on the highways of the future," said Gulshan Vashistha, GGGI Regional Technology Leader for Asia Pacific.
