Abu Dhabi Airport and renewable energy company Masdar has announced the completion of Abu Dhabi's largest solar car park. The new facility at Abu Dhabi International Airport will save the equivalent of 5,300 tons of CO2 per year.

The 3MW solar solar project has been installed in the short-term parking lot of the airport's midfield terminal, powered by 7,542 solar panels. The energy generated by the grid-connected project will be used to power the parking facilities and the excess energy will be transferred to other parts of the airport.
