Apr 20 2021Ernst & Young: Malaysia ito Achieve 7GW Renewable Energy Target by 2025

Malaysia has set a 20% renewable energy target in 2018. By the end of 2018, renewable energy accounts for 2% of electricity generation. The country is currently preparing to build 1GW of renewable energy. According to official data, by the end of 2019, the total installed capacity will be 33.9GW, and there will be no official update in 2020.

Given that the competitive electricity price of the solar auction is lower than that of 20 ringgit / kWh (US $0.0485 / kWh), Malaysia is expected to continue its annual tender to help achieve its target and possibly raise it.
